Making Diwali Cards!

I have a confession to make - I have never sent Diwali cards even though Diwali is one of the biggest festivals for Indians. Usually for me, Diwali cards get lost in the shuffle between Halloween and Thanksgiving prep and by the time I think about it, Christmas Holiday season is just days away so why even bother, right?

Growing up however, getting Diwali cards in the mail was one of my most favorite things about the season. We used to get gobs and gobs of them which my parents displayed around the home, until of course, they were grew tired of saying no to my plans to cut and repurpose them into all sorts of things.

I wouldn’t say I feel guilty, but I do feel a little sad that my kids don’t get to experience that same anticipation of getting Diwali cards in the mail. So to make thing right this year, I created a simple Diwali card template that we could print and craft into our very own Diwali cards using gems, glitter, and what not!

Asha and I had the best time making these! And if you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw the very sweet Insta-story where she refers to Diwali as a “Hindi party” (I know, I know! I feel like I dropped the ball on this whole cultural experience up until now).

Granted we only made 8, so we will have to be extra choosy about who we send these too, but it was so much fun and needless to say, I’ll sleep better during this Diwali season! = )

If this story has inspired you to make your own Diwali Cards, I am happily sharing my template for FREE in the SHOP. Get yours now and add a new tradition to your Diwali festivities this year! Don’t forget to share your pictures with us @hello.namaste.world!
